There are many noticeable changes which occur during pregnancy. Many physical, emotional, and hormonal alterations are taking place so do not be alarmed, all of these events are quite natural and normal.
You stomach will begin to swell and become rounded, your breasts will grow with the nipples becoming enlarged, and you desire or non desire for sex can fluctuate dramatically during the 9 month term of your pregnancy.
The need for sex exists within all females, pregnant or not. It began when you reached the age of puberty when your sex hormones were turned on and became active. The levels of these hormones, estrogen and progesterone, determine the strength of your sex drive.
While you are pregnant the sex drive can vary from day to day, many females report a big increase in their desire for sex during pregnancy, but don’t become alarmed, you are not turning into a nymphomaniac, it is merely the result of the many hormonal changes taking place in your body! In fact you may even enjoy sexual intercourse with your partner like you have never enjoyed the experience before.
Some of the changes you will notice are an increase in the ‘wetness’ of your vagina, your breasts and nipples will become more sensitive to touch, and you will experience an increase of blood flow in the genital areas.
The sex drive frequently varies. The symptoms of pregnancy are prevalent during the first three months so your sex drive may be low, but commonly it will reach its height during the second three months (husbands beware!). During the final three months of your pregnancy your drive will lower again as the developing fetus swells out your body and takes up much of your energy.
